Últimamente la cosa va de repositorios. Y no digo que CVS sea el mejor, de hecho no lo creo, subversion o GIT están en muy por encima, pero es una opción de entre tantas a considerar.
Antes de nada, lo primero que tenemos que hacer es comprobar qué versión tenemos de CVS en nuestro sistema, en Ubuntu viene instalado por defecto:
